"Vince Lynn, Tom Steiner, and I (as members of both the Sun City Huntley Aviation Group and EAA Chapter 1414 extend a big thanks to Herwig Schmidts for arranging our tour of the Warbird "Hootch" on September 2, 2009. Equally, we thank Sean Roarty for his knowledgeable and cordial up-close and personal explanations of most of the Warbirds in the hangar. What a wonderful experience it was for each of us. With that said, I will be in contact with Herwig and/or Paul Wood to arrange and plan a "Drive-To/Fly-In" tour of the Warbird Hangar and aircraft at a mutually convenient time in mid-October for members and guests of both the Sun City Huntley Aviation Group and EAA Chapter 1414 (Poplar Grove). I anticipate that this will be a memorable experience for all involved. Thanks again to Herwig, Sean, and all other members of the Foundation staff for their friendliness and desire to share their Warbird treasures. Allen Pollack Past-President, Sun City Flyers Club | Recreation Chairman, EAA Chapter 1414"

"It was a terrific experience to view the 2009 Selfridge Airshow and meet Steve and Paul. They are terrific pilots, and very generous with their time; two self realized men. Bon Chance, Hilaria McAllister"

"Yesterday was a really great one for me. Eighteen months ago my three daughters, as a Christmas gift, purchased a flight for me on the Warbird Hertage Foundation's 1943 Boeing B75 Stearman. That year is of particular significance since it is the same year that I was born. I figured it was time that we two old guys got together and yesterday was the day. For me the weather was about perfect 70's (at ground level), crystal clear, building cumulus, winds?, probably 15-20 out of the northwest; just enough activity to give you a real feel for the plane and open cockpit flying. While not now current I have held a privat pilot's license for almost 20 years but this was my first experience in a "tail-draggin'" bi-plane. Herwig took me up and we spent about an hour "playing" across the northern Illinois country-side; my thought at the time was, "this is what all flying should be like", it was wonderful. I would like to thank Herwig for a great flight and all the staff of the foundation for making experiences like this possible. Oh, by the way, you can eat off the floors in the Heritage hanger...actually, my granddaughter (13 months old) who accompanied my wife, daughter and me for the visit actually did so. Thank you all so much, it was great. A must for plane lovers."
