P-51D Mustang "Baby Duck" takes to the air!

On Friday, July 8, 2011, shortly after noon, the North American P-51D Mustang "Baby Duck" made it's first post-restoration flight from Tab-Air, at East Troy Municipal Airport in East Troy, WI. The pilot for the Mustang test flight was Vlado Lenoch.

The aircraft had last flown in 1996, more than fifteen years ago. The "Baby Duck" restoration project began in December of 2008.

At least one additional test flight is scheduled at Tab-Air, before we take delivery of the aircraft at the Warbird Heritage Foundation. We plan to have the aircraft at least on static display at this year's Waukegan Air Show. We hope to begin regularlly flying the Mustang during the 2012 airshow season.
